The main industries we support include Water, Wastewater, Food & Beverage, Brewing, Life Sciences, and emerging technologies. This is a full-time permanent role reporting directly to the Business Unit Manager.
Responsibilities
The Client Manager will lead business development initiatives within the municipal sector, including engagement with consulting partners. This role is accountable for ensuring that project management team deliverables are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with defined project scope. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently, taking initiative to drive projects forward while seeking opportunities for growth, variety, and continuous professional development. Responsibilities include supporting business development efforts across Southern Ontario, with potential project work extending throughout Canada. The idealcandidate is hands-on, adaptable, and capable of leading, managing and influencing change across diverse organizational environments. Regular travel to client sites is required, and candidates must be comfortable working on-site for varying durations.
The primary responsibilities of the role will be but are not limited to:
- Support the project team to complete life cycle project management of multiple projects.
- Gather and analyze project requirements based on customer input, ensuring alignment with business needs and proposed solutions.
- Municipal water and wastewater business development and customer focus, within the System Integration Industry.
- Assist in developing design specifications and conceptual solutions. Participate in customer meetings to help define project score and align the proposed approaches.
- Help clarify project deliverables by supporting the definition of system outcomes, including hardware, software, and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to support the development of project budgets, including collecting and reviewing vendors and contractor cost estimates.
- Contribute to the development and adherence of project schedules, helping track key tasks, timelines, and milestones to ensure project alignment and delivery.
- Support the preparation of RFQs by assisting with technical and commercial input, enabling effective and competitive procurement processes.
- Work closely with Project Managers to coordinate installation activities, including tracking equipment deliveries, monitoring timelines, and communicating progress, risks, and updating stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical/Instrumentation Technology.
- 7+ years of automation experience within the water/wastewater and/or industrial sectors.
- SCADA and PLC experience within the automation industry.
- Strong knowledge of Electrical Instrumentation
- Demonstrates strong analytical capability with the judgement to engage at both a strategic and technical level, including proactively investigating issues, diagnosing root causes, and guidelines effective resolutions.
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Exceptional project, time, and priority management skills
- Strong leadership, negotiation, meeting facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with and communicate to all levels of a municipal project delivery organization.
- General understanding of regulatory requirements for electrical and safety systems i.e., CSA, ESA, etc.
- Good comprehension of construction work and its safety requirements
- Ability to collaborate with a local team of professionals internally and externally ensure the execution of customer projects is successfully completed to the customer’s satisfaction.
- Valid G class driver’s license and personal transportation to travel to customer job sites.
Beneficial Qualifications
- CRM (Customer Relationship Management) certificate.
- Experience working with SAP and SharePoint.
About Your Working Environment
- Will be required to wear protective equipment in designated areas such as hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed safety boots.
- May be exposed to cold, heat and humidity, loud noise levels, and dust.
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
- Travel within the GTA and Southern Ontario.
Compensation
Base pay: $90,000 – $110,000. The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills and qualifications. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
